NEW YORK -- Six women, including tennis star Chris Evert Lloyd and figure skater Peggy Fleming, have been elected to the Women's Sports Hall of Fame, it was announced Thursday by Donna de Varona, president of the Women's Sports Foundation.

Also elected were track and field standout Wyomia Tyus, golfer Mickey Wright, speed-skater/cyclist Sheila Young-Ochowitz and Glenna Collect Vare. Vare was a prominent figure in women's golf in the 1920s and 1930s.

The six women will be honored at the Women's Sports Foundation Dinner, Oct. 5, at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

The professional and amateur sportswomen of the year also will be honored at the dinner.
