GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers released veteran quarterback Mark Miller Tuesday.

Miller, 24, was the Cleveland Browns' third-round draft choice from Bowling Green in 1978, and was traded to the Packers last year for a conditional draft choice.

Miller had tendinitis in his right shoulder and was unable to play most of last season.

Since Miller has been cut, the Packers will not have to give up the draft choice.

Veteran Lynn Dickey and rookie Rich Campbell have clinched the top two quarterback positions for the Packers, while David Whitehurst, Mike Mancusso and Nickie Hall will fight it out for the remaining position.

Starr said he enjoyed working with Miller and hopes he has an opportunity to work with another club.
