ATHENS, Greece -- Police had to rescue first-division Panionios trainer Lakis Petropoulos from a mob of 500 angry fans who invaded the field during a coaching session Monday at the club's stadium in suburban Athens, a spokesman for Panionios said.

The spokesman said the fans blamed Petropoulos for Sunday's scoreless tie between Panionios and Crointh, claiming the match had been fixed.
