PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers signed left wing Ilkka Sinisalo, a member of Finland's national team, the NHL club announced Tuesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
Sinisalo, the first Finnish player and third European player signed by the Flyers, will complete the season with the IFK team of Helsinki and join Philadelphia in training camp in September.
'Ilkka is a fine prospect,' said Flyers' General Manager Keith Allen. 'We had to outbid several NHL teams to sign him.'
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Sinisalo, 22, scored 26 goals with 17 assists in 32 games during the regular season.
The Flyers last year signed two Swedish players, defenseman Thomas Eriksson and goaltender Pelle Lindbergh. They joined the team before the start of the current season.
