TORONTO -- Steve Durbano, a former player for the St. Louis Blues, has been charged with illegally importing narcotics, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokesman said Monday.

Durbano, who last played in the NHL during the 1978-79 season, was arrested Saturday at Toronto International Airport aboard an Air Canada flight from Miami.

RCMP spokesman Brian Bavis said customs officers seized about 474 grams of cocaine, estimated by police to be worth about $71,000.

'The seizure came after a joint investigation by the RCMP and Canada Customs in cooperation with the Peel Regional police,' he said.
