ST. LOUIS -- David Burns of St. Louis University Monday was named the Metro Conference basketball player of the week for leading the Billikens to two victories in three games.

Burns, a 6-foot 2 senior guard, scored 58 points in the three games, which included wins over Dayton and Memphis State and a loss to third-ranked DePaul.

Burns, the leading scorer in the conference with an average of 20.3 points a game, hit 71 percent of his field goal attempts during the week, including a perfect nine-for-nine game against Memphis State.
