Former Edmonton Eskimos runningback Don Warrington was in critical...

EDMONTON -- Former Edmonton Eskimos runningback Don Warrington was in critical condition in the University Hospital's intensive care unit Tuesday after being involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Warrington, who retired at the end of the 1980 season after 10 years with the Eskimos, was injured when his car collided with a tractor-trailer just east of Edmonton about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

He was alone in his car at the time. Two persons in the cab of the truck escaped injury.

Warrington, a graduate of Simon Fraser University, injured a hamstring near the end of last season and spent the 1980 campaign on the Eskimos' injury list.

During his 10 years with the Eskimos the versatile Warrington carried the ball 107 times for 512 yards and made 225 receptions for 2,968 yards.
