JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- A South African court Wednesday handed U.S. film star David Carradine a three-year suspended sentence on charges of marijuana possession.

Carradine, who was in South Africa to film a movie about race car drivers, was at a party 10 days ago when police raided and arrested 13 people.

He was also charged with possession of marijuana found in his hotel room but that charge was dismissed by the judge.

The filming of the movie is over and Carradine told reporters he plans to return to the United States.
