In Friday's game, they had to come from behind twice to capture the victory.

Djurgarden scored the opening goal with the efforts of defender Karl Lilja who punched it home from the blue line. The second period was all Djurgarden's up to the final minute when Washington's Swedish player, Bengt-Ake Gustafsson, tied the score.

The Capitals found themselves in trouble early in the third period.

Washington's Finnish player, Antero Lehtonen, was penalized after 44 seconds of the third period and Djurgarden defender Ekroth shot his team into the lead.

The locals, cheered by 5,873 spectators, seemed convinced of a victory.

But Guy Charron equalized at 51:37 and Ribble drove home the winning shot less than 7 minutes later.
