TRIPOLI, Libya, April 15, 1986 (UPI) - The United States unleashed its biggest air strike since the Vietnam War today, bombing Libyan military bases, an oil port and Moammar Khadafy's residence and killing at least 16 people, one of them reportedly the Libyan leader's adopted baby girl.

America's enemies around the world -- and many of its allies - overwhelmingly condemned the U.S. attack on Libya Tuesday, calling the military action a violation of international law that will have little impact on terrorism.

WASHINGTON, April 15, 1986 (UPI) -- The blistering U.S. airstrike against Libya was a victory in the global battle against terrorism, President Reagan said Tuesday, warning the United States is ready to repeat its message ''in the only language Khadafy seems to understand.''
