Meany backs Nixon ouster

By CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 1974 (UPI)-AFL-CIO President George Meany said that release of new Watergate tapes reinforces his view that President Nixon should resign.

Meany said that if Nixon is not out of the White House by the November elections, the Republicans will face a political disaster in which they will lose 60 congressional seats.

"As it stands now, it is going to be a disaster for the Republican Party, and I mean a real disaster," he said.
