CAIRO (UPI) -- Egypt's multi-million dollar Aswan Dam geared up to full capacity Tuesday when the last of its 12-unit hydroelectric generators was put into operation, the Middle East News Agency reported.
With the start of the last generator, the Soviet-built dam will have a generating power of 2.1 million kilowatts, enough to cover the needs of the country's agricultural and industrial projects for the coming years, the agency said.
