OAK HILL, W.Va. -- Hank Williams, 37-year-old hill-billy singing star who had just resumed his career after a year of semi-retirement, died today en route to an engagement at Canton, Ohio.

Charles Carr, the entertainer's companion and chauffeur, said Williams was sleeping in the car as they approached Oak Hill shortly before 7 a.m. Noting that Williams felt cold, Carr rushed him to a hospital where the singer was pronounced dead of a heart attack.
