WASHINGTON, June 27, 1950 (UP) - Text of President Truman's announcement that U.S. air and sea force have been ordered to South Korea:In Korea the government forces, which were armed to prevent border raids and to preserve internal security, were attacked by invading forces from North Korea. The Security Council of the United Nations called upon the invading troops to cease hostilities and to withdraw to the 38th Parallel.

Tank-led North Korean Communist armies drove to within four miles of this capital city of South Korea early today and reports from the front said republican defense forces were able to put up "almost no resistance."

TOKYO, June 29, 1950 (UP) - The South Korean Army has rallied and is holding the Han River line south of Seoul with the aid of swarming fleets of United States warplanes, including B-29s, advices from the front said today.The Communists had taken the capital of Seoul yesterday and the Southern troops had started a demoralized retreat.

AT THE KOREAN FRONT, July 10, 1950 (UP) - An American lieutenant said today that seven American soldiers who surrendered to the North Koreans were lined up along a road and machine-gunned to death.Lieut. D.C. Gates, Joinersville, Tex., said he saw four of the men surrender to the Communists early today in an area which the North Koreans infiltrated and held for a short time before being driven out.

TOKYO, July 10, 1950 (UP) - Gen. Douglas MacArthur today promised humanitarian treatment to North Korean prisoners of war and said he expected similar treatment for captured Americans and South Koreans.The promise was contained in a leaflet dropped on North Korean troops and installations by the Psychological Warfare Branch.
