Warsaw's capitulation on 20th day of siege

BERLIN, Sept. 27, 1939 (UP) -- The city of Warsaw capitulated unconditionally today, the Nazi high command said, on the 20th day of bombardment, fire and starvation.

Ending an epochal defense and virtually ending all resistance in conquered Poland, the defenders of the Polish capital agreed to end their fight against superior Nazi armies encircling the city.
