Park in Florida wins approval

By International News Service

WASHINGTON -- Presidential approval of an act of Congress to provide for the establishment of the Everglades National Park in the state of Florida was announced by the White House today.

The president has also approved an act to shorten the length of duty in the tropics and certain foreign stations for officers and enlisted men of the military services.

The act provides that the length of duty in tropical stations shall be reduced from three to two years. It was increased some time ago to three years as an economy measure, but the military services found that the extra year had a detrimental effect upon the physical and mental condition of the men forced to remain in the tropics for that period.
