Lindbergh Kidnapping

WASHINGTON, Sept. 21, 1934 (UP) - If the United States hadn't gone off the gold standard, the Lindbergh ransom mystery might have remained unsolved.

NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 1934 (UP)Bruno Richard Hauptmann, German convict, today was charged with the murder of the kidnaped son of Col. and Mrs. Charles A. Lindbergh in an extradition warrant demanding his return to New Jersey for trial. Federal authorities accuse him of planning and executing the kidnaping which was climaxed with the finding of the tiny victim's body in the underbrush near the Lindbergh home.

NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 1934 (UP) -- Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, disguised in horn-rimmed glasses, spent 10 minutes today in the same room with Bruno Richard Hauptmann, who is accused in the kidnaping and murder of the noted aviator's first born son.

FLEMINGTON, N.J., Feb. 13, 1935 (UP) - Bruno Richard Hauptmann was convicted tonight of America's most colossal crime, and he must forfeit his life in the electric chair for his murder of baby Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr.
