American auto wins round-the-world race

PARIS, July 31, 1908 (UP) - The American Thomas car has arrived in Paris after leisurely jaunt from Berlin. George Schuster and George Miller are being hailed everywhere as the winners of the great around-the-world race.

Far more attention is being shown the Thomas than was paid the German Protos car, which preceded it to Paris by several days. The demonstration made for the American drivers a triumphant entry.

The Thomas easily could have arrived a day sooner, but with nothing to be gained by pushing the car, Schuster and Miller leisurely completed the journey, which began in New York last February.

The Thomas wins the race by 27 days, as it had an allowance of 30 days in the run from Vladivostok to Paris.
