GAZA, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The trial for 4 people suspected of killing an Italian activist in Gaza is set to begin Sept. 22.
The defendants -- Abu Ghoul, 25, Khader Jram, 26, Mohammed Salfi, 23, and Hasanah Tarek, 25, -- are accused of kidnapping and killing Italian activist and journalist Vittorio Arrigoni in April, Ma'an news agency reported.
Arrigoni's body was found April 15 in a house northwest of Gaza.
Hamas security forces were able to find the group responsible to the killing in a refugee camp three days later.
Clashes between the group, which identified itself as Salafist, and Hamas forces ensued, resulting in the death of two of the alleged killers, the injuring of a third and the detention of a fourth.
President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the murder of Arrigoni, calling it a "grotesque and disgraceful crime."
