Record Calif lotto had 3 winning tickets

SACRAMENTO, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Three tickets had the winning numbers in California's record $193 million state lottery drawing, officials announced Sunday.

The lucky tickets, which are worth around $64.3 million apiece, were purchased at 7-11 stores in Orange and Montebello in Southern California, and an Albertson's supermarket in Half Moon Bay north of San Francisco.

The record jackpot surged in value late last week as eager, hopeful players, including a stream of residents of neighboring states and even Mexican border cities, lined up at liquor stores and other outlets to get in on the action, despite mathematically overwhelming odds of 41 million to 1.

The holders of the tickets had not come forward as of late Sunday morning.

Ticket purchases for Saturday night's drawing contributed $112 million to the state's schools, lottery officials estimated.

Saturday night's record jackpot eclipsed the $141 million awarded last June 23 when Al Castellano of San Jose claimed the entire sum.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were: 6, 11, 31, 32 and 39 with the MEGA number of 20.
