T-shirt read, 'fugitive'; he was

BREMEN, Ind., July 3 (UPI) -- Chris Antus' T-shirt read, "fugitive." He was.

Antus, 24, of Lakeville, Ind., was being held Wednesday by Bremen police on a bench warrant for theft.

Antus was clad in an orange T-shirt with the legend, "fugitive" and in smaller letters, "You never saw me.

Indiana State Trooper Jerrod Patty said he and two other officers stopped Antus Monday night after an anonymous caller reported a 1977 yellow Cadillac driving erratically.

"I started joking with him," Patty told the South Bend Tribune. "I said, 'All you have to do is tell me where you came from and I'll take you back.'"

Antus responded by saying he had borrowed the T-shirt from a friend.

Patty then ran Antus' name and the names of the other four occupants of the Cadillac and found Antus had failed to make a court appearance in April on charges of stealing a John Deer lawn mower and a television from his mother.

"I came back and told him we had a problem," Patty said. "He said, 'She was supposed to have dropped those charges.'"
