He has qualified for two Olympics games. In 2004 he was selected for the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Xiao Qin was one of the favorites for the Olympic title on Pommel Horse, but his dreams were shattered when he fell in qualifications. He finished disappointing 5th with his team and a respectable sixth place finish on the Horizontal Bar. He was once again selected for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing due to his strengths on the Horizontal Bar and Pommel Horse. Xiao has been the world champion on the pommel horse for the past three years and won the past two world cup finals, which made him a heavy favorite for the pommel horse title. He helped his team secure the gold in the team competition and won the pommel horse event final.
