Braves to retire Chipper Jones' number

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Braves said Tuesday they will retire third baseman Chipper Jones' number and induct him into the team's Hall of Fame.

BROKEN ARROW, Okla., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Warren Spahn, the winningest lefthanded pitcher in major league history, died Monday at his home. He was 82.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The looming baseball strike has been, for the moment at least, averted. The game will continue, but all the talk of another Major League Baseball shutdown brought back memories of my late Uncle Vince -- a great baseball fan.
