Rear Admiral Steve K. Galson, USPHS Acting Assistant Secretary for Health and Acting Surgeon General of the United States

Rear Admiral Steven Kenneth Galson, USPHS is an American physician and public health administrator. He is acting United States Assistant Secretary for Health and acting Surgeon General of the United States, serving as operational head of the United States Public Health Service and the commander of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He previously served as the Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 2005 to 2007.

Galson received his Baccalaureate Degree from Stony Brook University in 1978, an M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1983, and a M.P.H. from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1990. He is Board Certified in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health as well as in Occupational Medicine.
