Steve Slaton (born January 4, 1986 in Levittown, Pennsylvania) is an American football running back for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Texans in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He played college football at West Virginia, where he earned All-American status, was a Heisman Trophy finalist, and set various school and conference records.

Slaton was born into a family of six siblings, he is the son of Carl Slaton and Juanita Tiggett-Slaton. He had a hard childhood growing up. Until first grade congestion in his ears rendered Slaton completely deaf at times. In fifth grade, his sister died of leukemia.

Slaton attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School, from grades kindergarten until eighth grade, where he ran track.
