NOF2001082402 - 24 AUGUST 2001 - NORTH FORK, CALIFORNIA, USA: A fire near North Fork, California left a lunar landscape in it's path of charring over 1000 acres on August 22, 2001. A fire broke out in the area around noon Monday and access was difficult in the steep terrain. Six aircraft were dispatched to fires in the Sierra Nevada at North Fork. mk/to/TOMAS OVALLE UPI.
