SUKHUMI, Georgia, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- The foreign minister of the breakaway Georgian region of Abkhazia said Friday that Russia will get no new bases there.

SUKHUMI, Georgia, May 11 (UPI) -- A U.S. envoy arrived Saturday in the breakaway region of Abkhazia in Georgia in an effort to find a peaceful solution to the impasse there.

TBILISI, Georgia, May 4 (UPI) -- Two unmanned reconnaissance drones controlled by Georgia were shot down Sunday near Abkhazian air space, Abkhaz Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba said.
