Topic: Ryan Spilborghs

Ryan Adam Spilborghs (born September 5, 1979, in Santa Barbara, California) is a Major League Baseball outfielder with the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies drafted Spilborghs in the seventh round of the 2002 draft out of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He played for the Madison Mallards during the summer of 2001 during his collegiate career. Spilborghs is of mixed descent, as his father is Belgian, and his mother is Guatemalan.

On July 20, 2009, Ryan's wife gave birth to their daughter and first child, Kiera. Her middle name, Esperanza (which means hope in Spanish), was chosen after his mother's first name, who died during spring training earlier in the year.
