RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Tuomo Ruutu's shootout goal was the game-winner for Carolina Sunday in a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

ATLANTA, Nov. 14 (UPI) -- Johan Hedberg allowed only two power-play goals on 29 shots Friday, carrying the Atlanta Thrashers to their fifth straight victory -- 3-2 over Carolina.

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Goaltender Cam Ward made a save with less than a second left Saturday night and the Carolina Hurricanes edged the New York Islanders 4-3.

ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Eric Staal scored a goal and added an assist for the Carolina Hurricanes in a 3-1 win Sunday over the Anaheim Ducks.

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Eric Staal scored the game-winning goal with 23.6 seconds left in overtime Saturday to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 4-3 win against Tampa Bay.

Hurricanes lost star to Achilles injury

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Carolina Hurricanes right wing Justin Williams will miss four to six months next season because of a torn right Achilles tendon.
