Robert Hale News

Wiki

Robert Allen Hale, also known as Papa Pilgrim (1941 - May 26, 2008) was a religious zealot who mentally, physically, and sexually tortured his wife and 15 children in the Alaskan wilderness.

Prior to living in Alaska, Hale had been involved in two notable incidents with the law, both incredibly linked to President John F. Kennedy.

In 1958, when he was 17, he eloped with 16-year-old Kathleen Connally, who was the daughter of the future Texas Governor, John Connally. Connally was in the seat in front of President John F. Kennedy when he was shot and killed in their open-air limousine in Dallas on November 23, 1963. Kathleen was already pregnant and they eloped to Oklahoma. They lived in a small apartment for a month when Kathleen was killed by a shotgun blast below her right ear. Kathleen's family family blamed Hale, but he was never put on trial as even John Connally himself thought it might have been a suicide pact that Hale backed out of.
