Preston M. "Pete" Geren, III (born January 29, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas) has served as the 20th and current United States Secretary of the Army since 16 July 2007. He is also a former member of the United States House of Representatives from Texas.

Geren attended Georgia Tech from 1970 to 1973 (where he was the starting center for the football team) and received his BA from the University of Texas in 1974 and his Juris Doctor from University of Texas Law School in 1978.

Prior to joining the Department of Defense, Geren was an attorney and businessman in Fort Worth, Texas. He was an aide to Senator Lloyd Bentsen (1983–1985).
