MONTREAL, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Veteran Montreal defenseman Patrice Brisebois retired Thursday after 18 seasons in the National Hockey League.

Colorado's Brisebois out for the season

DENVER, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Colorado defenseman Patrice Brisebois will have surgery for a herniated disc and miss the rest of the Avalanche's season, the NHL team said Monday. Brisebois, 36, was injured on Dec. 27 and has not played since.
