MOSCOW, March 13 (UPI) -- The Russian-manufactured BTSVM MVK-03 computer will provide the backbone of a weapons control system for the MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters being sold to the Slovak air force, because the Slovak air force has large stockpiles of Russian-made bombs and missiles that are difficult to combine with Western weapons control systems.

MOSCOW, March 12 (UPI) -- On Feb. 29, 2008, the Slovakian aircraft repair and manufacturing company Letecke Opravovne Trencin -- LOT -- returned 12 revamped Russian-manufactured MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters to the Slovakian national air force at Sliac air base.

MOSCOW, March 3 (UPI) -- The $1.5 billion contract signed by Russia's Sevmash Corp. to refit the aircraft carrier or air capable cruiser Admiral Gorshkov for the Indian navy hugely underestimated the true costs of modernization.

MOSCOW, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Algeria will return 15 MiG-29SMT -- Fulcrum -- fighters purchased from the MiG Corp. in 2006-2007 to Russia. The deal on the return was signed shortly before Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika visited the Russian Federation.

MOSCOW, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Unlike the Russian radars deployed in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan, the Ukrainian systems are not manned by Russian officers. Both the qualifications of the radars' civilian Ukrainian personnel and the data they provide to Russia are questionable.

MOSCOW, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- The Federation Council, the upper house of Russia's Parliament, has approved the Jan. 25, 2008, decision of the State Duma, the lower house of Parliament, to denounce the agreement with Ukraine on the use of its early warning radars.
