Nathaniel Bacon(colonist)

Latest News

Nathaniel Bacon (c. 1640s – October 26, 1676) was a wealthy colonist of the Virginia Colony, known as the instigator of Bacon's Rebellion of 1676, which included a variety of people from the frontier: yeomen, free blacks and slaves. The movement collapsed when Bacon died of dysentery.

After his arrival in the Virginia Colony, Bacon settled on the frontier near Jamestown. Governor William Berkeley appointed him to his council and awarded him land grant. Some sources have claimed that Berkeley's wife, Francis Culpeper, was a cousin of Nathaniel Bacon.

Nathaniel purchased two parks with the financial help from his father.
