Mathieu Garon (born January 9, 1978 in Chandler, Quebec) is a professional Canadian ice hockey goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League. Before the Blue Jackets, he saw action with the Montreal Canadiens, the Los Angeles Kings, the Edmonton Oilers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins with whom he won the Stanley Cup with in 2009.
He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round (44 overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He subsequently played for the Victoriaville Tigres of the QMJHL and the Fredericton Canadiens, Quebec Citadelles, Hamilton Bulldogs, and Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.
Garon did see action with the Canadiens before being traded in 2004 with a 3rd round pick to the Los Angeles Kings for Radek Bonk and Cristobal Huet. He became a restricted free agent during the 2006 off-season and on July 17, 2006, accepted a one-year, $1.216 million qualifying offer from the Kings.
