Lalu Prasad Yadav (Devanāgarī: लालू प्रसाद यादव) is an Indian politician from Bihar. He was Minister of Railways from 2004 to 2009 in the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, and President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal political party.

Yadav's involvement in politics started during his student days at Patna University, and he was subsequently elected a member of the Lok Sabha in 1977 as a Janata party candidate. At the age of 29 he was one of its youngest members of Parliament.
