Banker José Ramón González is the current CEO of Santander Puerto Rico, currently Puerto Rico's second largest financial institution. After succeeding legendary Spanish banker Benito Cantalapiedra, González has gradually expanded 150-year-old Santander's footprint in Puerto Rico's banking market, not only through marketing but also through the acquisition of assets and branches of other banks that have fallen victim to the consolidation of the U.S. territory's banking market.

González also served as president of the Puerto Rico Government Development Bank during the administration of Governor Rafael Hernández Colón.
