Cubs edge out Reds in 12th inning

Luis Valbuena's two-run triple in the top of the 12th inning lifted the Chicago Cubs over the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, on Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park.

Jay Bruce drove in two runs and Mat Latos pitched seven strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds took a 4-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.

CINCINNATI, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Right-handed relief pitcher Jonathan Broxton has agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract, the Cincinnati Reds announced Wednesday.

Jonathan Roy Broxton (born June 16, 1984 in Augusta, Georgia) is a Major League Baseball relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He bats and throws right-handed. On July 3, 2009 against the San Diego Padres he was clocked at 103 mph.

A prototypical fireballer, the 6'4", 295-pound Broxton features an overwhelming fastball as well as a slider.

Broxton attended Burke County High School in Waynesboro, GA. As a senior for the Bears, he posted a 9–2 record and a 1.21 earned run average as a pitcher.
