Jonathan Michael Avnet (born November 17, 1949) is an American director/writer/producer.

Jon Avnet was born in 1949 in Brooklyn to Lester Avnet, chair of the largest distributor of electronic equipment at the time (Avnet, Inc.), and Joan Bertha Avnet. He attended Great Neck North High School in Great Neck, New York.

Avnet studied at Sarah Lawrence College.
