WASHINGTON, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- While the world's eyes are fixed on the U.S. presidential election, another election with equal importance for the future of the United States appeared on the calendar over the past weekend. Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni gave up her efforts to form a new Israeli government and called for elections. Her move may be a last negotiating gambit.
