WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- Turkey, while poor in indigenous energy resources, is becoming a major transit route for Azeri and Iraqi oil exports, with the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline already sending a million barrels a day to Turkey's Ceyhan Mediterranean port. Ankara is betting that after Iraq is pacified, ever increasing volumes of Iraqi crude will be sent via Turkey, while the long proposed Nabucco gas pipeline, if built, will provide Turkey with additional substantial transit revenues.
