Henry J. Kaiser (2nd from left), who became a legend in industry before his death in 1967, was born 100 years ago on May 9, 1882. An exhibit called “A Man of Vision”, featuring photographs and memorabilia of his career, is on display at the Kaiser Center here in Oakland, California, in celebration of the centennial of his birth. In this photo, Kaiser is shown with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, when the latter visited a Kaiser shipyard in Portland, Oregon on September 9, 1942. At left is Oregon governor Charles Sprague and standing behind the car is Edgar Kaiser. Kaiser built 27 percent of all U.S. vessels built during World War II. (UPI Photo/File Photo)
