Gordon Cooper Jr., one of America's first seven astronauts, died on October 4, 2004 at his home in Ventura, Calif. He was 77 years old. UPHAM, N.M., April 28 (UPI) -- The ashes of "Star Trek" actor James Doohan got a brief trip into space Saturday from a New Mexico launchpad along with those of astronaut Gordon Cooper.
SANTA FE, N.M., April 3 (UPI) -- Cremated remains of actor James Doohan, Scotty on "Star Trek," and pioneer astronaut Gordon Cooper are set to be launched from New Mexico into space this month.
