Eric Smith (born March 17, 1983 in Columbus, Ohio) is an American football safety for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Jets in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State.

On September 28, 2008, Smith was fined $50,000 and suspended one game because of a helmet-to-helmet collision with Anquan Boldin of the Arizona Cardinals, which caused Boldin to be hospitalized.
