Duane Alexander, M.D. (born 11 August 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland) is the current director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. He has held this position since 1986.

Alexamder married Marianne Ellis in 1963. They have two children, Keith and Kristin.

He received his MD from Johns Hopkins.
