David Campbell (born 1961), Professor of Cultural and Political Geography in the Department of Geography at Durham University in the UK. He also serves as Associate Director for the Durham Centre for Advanced Photography Studies. Between 1997-2004 he was Professor of International Politics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

David Campbell graduated with a PhD from the Australian National University in 1990, and has worked in the Australian Senate, as well as holding academic posts at the Johns Hopkins University in the US and Keele University and Newcastle University in the UK. While at Newcastle University he was project manager for ‘Culture Lab’, a £4 million centre for digital media and creative practice that opened in 2006.

His publications include National Deconstruction: Violence, Identity and Justice in Bosnia (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 1998); Writing Security: United States Foreign Policy and the Politics of Identity, revised edition (Manchester/Minneapolis: Manchester University Press/University of Minnesota Press, 1998), and Moral Spaces: Rethinking Ethics and World Politics, edited with Michael J. Shapiro (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 1999). National Deconstruction was named International Forum Bosnia’s Book of the Year 1999, and has been translated for publication in Sarajevo in 2003.
