MIAMI, May 18 (UPI) -- Bolivia's state-run gas company and 13 foreign energy firms have decided to increase natural gas exports, a deal that assuages fears among Latin American neighbors Brazil and Argentina of potential supply shortfalls during the Southern Hemisphere's approaching winter.

MIAMI, April 22 (UPI) -- Bolivia is preparing to ramp up exports of natural gas to energy-hungry Argentina in the coming months amid Brazil's decision to cut back on imports, Bolivian energy officials said.

MIAMI, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Venezuela has committed nearly $1 billion to help Bolivia increase its natural gas reserves -- the second-largest in Latin America -- an expenditure that comes amid increased tensions ahead of a recall referendum for the Bolivian president.

MIAMI, June 25 (UPI) -- One eastern Bolivian province took another step toward self-governance this week, as voters overwhelmingly supported greater autonomy from the central government, drawing a further divide in a poor South American country over the gas issue.
