NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Pop star Usher, cast as Billy Flynn in the Broadway musical "Chicago," has a strep throat and will not return to the role, his manager says.

NEW YORK, July 14 (UPI) -- Usher will join the cast of the Broadway musical, "Chicago" and make his debut Aug. 22 as Billy Flynn.

NEW YORK, March 30 (UPI) -- Injured star Christina Applegate persuaded producers to go ahead with the $7.5 million Broadway revival of "Sweet Charity" despite weak reviews by critics.

BOSTON, March 26 (UPI) -- A revival of the musical "Sweet Charity," about a prostitute with a heart of gold, will not make it to Broadway, instead closing in Boston, producers said.

Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Michael Jeter died at his Hollywood Hills home this week. He was 50.
