Amit Yoran was the National Cyber Security Division director within the United States Department of Homeland Security. He took up the post in September 2003 and resigned in October 2004.
As of March 2007, he is the head of a new startup, NetWitness Corp., which also employs Shawn Carpenter, a computer counter-intelligence specialist and Sandia National Laboratories whistleblower.
Yoran is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and has a Master's degree in computer science from The George Washington University. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the Institute for International Law and Politics at Georgetown University.
