Industry experts predict oil prices to test the $75 a barrel level.  Shares of Exxon Mobile Corp. (NYSE: XOM) plunged $6.99 to $61.01 and Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) tumbled $4.04 to $59.96....

At yesterday's news conference, Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson indicated that he might just do that. This would be following the lead of the U.K., which yesterday indicated that they are buying major stakes in its most troubled banks. This is exactly the approach that will do the most good. The core problem right now is that we have an overleveraged financial system which is trying desperately to de-leverage. Shares of Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) fell to set another fresh 52-week low today, as oil continues to fall.

Shares of Exxon have traded down as low as $58.30 earlier in the session, and headed into the afternoon session, the stock has rebounded a bit, but is still trading down 8.7% to $62.20, down $5.80 on the day.

It's been a tough week for the stock, which is now down around 21% from its close last Friday.

As recession fears continue to spread, oil has been moving steadily lower, and once again today the precious crude is down, falling another $5.82 a barrel to $80.77, and was under the psychological $80 earlier in the day, trading all the way to $78.61 earlier in the session.

Shares of Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) fell to set another fresh 52-week low today, as oil continues to fall.

Shares of Exxon have traded down as low as $58.30 earlier in the session, and headed into the afternoon session, the stock has rebounded a bit, but is still trading down 8.7% to $62.20, down $5.80 on the day.

It's been a tough week for the stock, which is now down around 21% from its close last Friday.

As recession fears continue to spread, oil has been moving steadily lower, and once again today the precious crude is down, falling another $5.82 a barrel to $80.77, and was under the psychological $80 earlier in the day, trading all the way to $78.61 earlier in the session.

How low oil will fall remains to be seen. I personally don't see oil falling below the low $70's, but there are plenty of analysts out there that would disagree with me, and I have read several reports recently of experts predicting oil down closer to the $50 mark. Time will tell, but should the global economic landscape continue to erode, I may be changing my tune sooner than later.

With gas prices still spiking, Exxon Mobile was polled by Tickermine today. Twenty three outlets were asked how much people pay per gallon for premium unleaded, regular unleaded and do these prices deter how far and how often you drive? The average price of premium unleaded gas was $3.90, our poll says. For regular unleaded gas, prices averaged at $3.69. Nine respondents, so 39%, expected prices to rise further over the next months while 14 or 61% didn't think prices would change. And 70% of those interviewed said these factors would deter their driving. Six people or 26% said they were unfazed.
